Roll of Stamps Price: $82.00 for 100 Forever Stamps
A standard retail roll of stamps, sold as a coil, holds 100 Forever stamps. At the current First-Class letter rate of $0.82 per stamp, effective July 12, 2026, that roll costs $82.00. The price is the same at the Post Office, at retail counters and on USPS.com, so there is nothing to shop around for.
Roll, book or coil: what you are actually buying
These three words get used loosely, and the difference matters less than most people expect. A book is a folded sheet of 20. A roll and a coil are the same thing, a continuous strip you tear from, normally 100 stamps for consumers. USPS also sells business coils of 3,000 for offices that run stamps through a dispenser.
The per-stamp price does not change between them. A book of 20 costs $16.40, which is the same $0.82 each. You are choosing a format, not a price.

There is no bulk discount, and that surprises people
Buying 100 at once saves trips, not money. USPS reserves discounted postage for high-volume commercial mailers who presort their mail and meet specific preparation rules. A household or small office buying a roll pays full face value. If someone offers you a roll below face value, that is a resale market, not a USPS discount.
A roll bought years ago still mails a letter today
Forever stamps do not expire and do not lose value. A coil purchased when the rate was $0.55 still covers a one-ounce letter at $0.82. That is the whole point of the design, and it is why a half-used roll in a desk drawer is not a sunk cost. It is postage you have already paid for at yesterday’s price.
